Kellen Amos led CCSU with 15 points and six rebounds, while Andre Snoddy chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds. CCSU shot 18-of-57 (.316) from the field and 3-of-27 (.111) from three-point range. CCSU went 10-of-13 (.769) at the foul line.
Rutgers had four players in double-figures, led by Cam Spencer's 18 points. The Scarlet Knights shot 29-of-54 (.537) overall and 8-of-18 (.444) from three-point range. RU was 17-of-22 (.773) at the foul line.

- CCSU took an early 3-2 lead after Amos opened the scoring for the Blue Devils with a three-pointer. Rutgers would convert a pair of foul shots on the next possession to regain the lead, but the Blue Devils would managed to draw even at 11-11 after Jayden Brown and Davonte Sweatman had consecutive layups just over five minutes into the game.
- Rutgers would score 12 unanswered points to build a 23-11 lead midway through the first half and the Blue Devils would not get any closer in the first half. CCSU was held without a field goal in the final four minutes as the Scarlet Knights went into the intermission with a 44-24 lead.
- Amos led the Blue Devils coming out of the lockerroom in the second half, scoring the team's first six points. A layup by Nigel Scantlebury with 16:50 to play would make it 46-35 and cap an 11-2 run to open the period for CCSU. The spurt included a three-pointer by Andre Snoddy that was Central's only one of the second half.
- Rutgers would outscore the Blue Devils, 33-7, over a 14-minute span limiting CCSU to just one field goal and would pull away. Central missed 15 straight three-pointers over the final 18 minutes which hampered the Blue Devils efforts to keep pace with the Scarlet Knights.
