Men's Basketball Falls at Wagner
The Central Connecticut men's basketball was held off by Wagner, 78-68, in Northeast Conferenceaction on Saturday at the Spiro Center. The Blue Devils trimmed a double-digit deficit to just five late in the second half before the Seahawks held off the late charge.
Junior Nigel Scantlebury scored 20 points to lead CCSU, while freshmen Andre Snoddy and Joe Ostrowsky added 13 and 11 points, respectively. Central shot 18-of-43 (.419) overall and was 8-of-22 (.364) on three-pointers. The Blue Devils went 24-of-26 (.923) at the foul line.
Raekwon Rogers paced Wagner with 26 points. The Seahawks shot 24-of-48 (.500) overall and 4-of-18 (.222) from three-point range. Wagner was 26-of-31 (.839) from the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- A three-pointer by junior Tre Mitchell gave CCSU an early 5-3 just under five minutes into the game. The lead would be Central's largest of the day as Wagner would score 10 straight and hold the Blue Devils scoreless for over five minutes. Ostrowsky had back-to-back treys to make it 15-11.
- Central would get within 19-17 after a Scantlebury three-pointer with 6:54 to go in the half. The Blue Devils would get back within a bucket twice in the period, including with 2:08 left after a pair of Snoddy foul shots. The Seahawks would outscore CCSU, 6-2, to close the half and led 32-26 at halftime.
- Alex Morales opened the second half with a pair of three-pointers to push the Wagner lead to double-figures. The margin grew to 49-34 after a dunk by Rogers with 15:16 to play. The Seahawks mostly held a double-digit lead until Central scored five straight on a basket by senior Stephane Ayangma and three foul shots by Scantlebury with 7:13 to make it 58-52.
- CCSU would get within 67-62 with 3:52 to play after a four-point play by junior Ian Krishnan, but that was as close as they would get. Wagner closed out the game with seven straight foul shots, while limiting the Blue Devils to just two field goals down the stretch.
