Men's Hoops Plays Third Game in Four Days, Falls at Rutgers

The Central Connecticut men's basketball fell at Rutgers, 79-48, on Saturday at Jersey Mike's Arena. The Blue Devils, who were playing third game in four days, closed out their non-conference schedule and did so while missing three starters and a pair of reserves.

Senior Stephane Ayangma notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 33 minutes. Freshman Joe Ostrowsky added 12 points and three assists. Central shot 15-of-55 (.275) overall and went 6-of-15 (.400) on three-pointers. The Blue Devils shot 12-of-19 (.632) at the foul line.

Cliff Omoruyi led the Scarlet Knights with 19 points and 12 rebounds. RU shot 35-of-70 (.500) overall and 4-of-16 (.250) from the arc. Rutgers was 5-of-10 (.500) from the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS

After an early three-pointer by junior Ian Krishnan gave CCSU the lead, Rutgers would score 13 straight points to build a double-digit lead. Central started the game shooting 2-of-14 from the field.
Rutgers would hold CCSU scoreless for over five minutes and score 15 straight points as part of a 27-6 spurt to build a commanding 44-14 lead at halftime.
Central would be held without a field goal for over 10 minutes spanning across both halves, while Rutgers would score 21 unanswered points during that stretch to exert its control and did not allow CCSU to threaten.

Ostrowsky was 2-for-5 on three-pointers and chipped hin four rebounds and three assists. He played a game-high 39 minutes.
Freshman Andre Snoddy blocked a career-high three shots. He added eight rebounds and two steals in 39 minutes.
The Blue Devils committed 17 turnovers in the game, their most since the season-opener. CCSU has a combined +13 turnover margin over the past 11 games.
CCSU freshmen combined for 30 points and 20 rebounds in the contest.
Central was playing its third game in four days and was without three starters and two key reserves.
