Northeast Conference Announces 2021-22 League Slate

The Northeast Conference announced the men's and women's basketball regular season schedules for the 2021-22 season today. Each team will play a 18-game, double round-robin regular season schedule.
Schedule Notes
- Both the men and women will play a double round-robin schedule with the conference season tipping off on Wednesday, December 29.
- Aside from one week in February, the men's and women's schedules will be mirrored.
- The men will complete their regular season schedule on Saturday, February 26, while the women wrap on Thursday, March 3.
- Six of the nine weeks will be contested with a Thursday/Saturday format. Games will be contested Wednesday/Friday on the opening weekend (December 29/31), Saturday/Monday to coincide with Martin Luther King Day (January 15/17) and on a Friday/Sunday schedule the weekend of January 21/23. Additionally, the women will have two single game weeks (February 10/11 and March 3).
- Game times are to be determined and dates may be moved to accommodate TV.
- The 2021-22 NEC television slate will be announced in October.
- The NEC Basketball Championship will return to an eight-team playoff format with all games played at the home of the higher seed. After the quarterfinals, advancing teams will be reseeded so the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals.
- The 2022 NEC Men's Basketball Championship will take place on March 2, 5 & 8 at campus sites.
- The 2022 NEC Women's Basketball Championship will take place on March 7, 10 & 13 at campus sites.
Patrick Sellers will begin his first season in charge of the CCSU men's basketball program. Sellers played at CCSU, graduating from the school in 1991. He was also an assistant from 1999-2003, helping the Blue Devils win a pair of Northeast Conference championships during that time. He has been a member of coaching staffs on NCAA Tournament teams at UConn, Creighton, and Fairleigh Dickinson as well.
Kerri Reaves was named the interim head coach of the women's program prior to the 2020-21 season. She has been on the staff as an assistant coach for the previous 15 seasons. She has also been an assistant at Providence College and was head coach at Division II Saint Leo University. CCSU recorded a win over NEC postseason participant, Fairleigh Dickinson, last season and will return nine letterwinners.
