Men's Basketball Heads to Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic for Two Contests
The Blue Devils will face Austin Peay and Florida A&M on the visit to the Carribean.
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team is heading to the Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic for a pair of games this weekend, both to be carried on the CBS Sports Network fron the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Central will open play at the weekend event on Friday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m. against Austin Peay. The Blue Devils wrap up the weekend's action at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, against Florida A&M.
Central is playing off the mainland for the first time since the 1999-2000 Hawai'i-Hilo Tournament. The Blue Devils are coming off a convincing 86-74 win over UMass Lowell on Tuesday night in the home-opener at Detrick Gymnasium. Senior Tyler Kohl scored 26 points and freshman Ian Krishnan added 22 points as CCSU shot 52.7% from the field as a team and led by as many as 24 points in the contest.

FRESHMEN GIVE CENTRAL A BOOST • Freshmen Ian Krishnan and Karrington Wallace have provided a spark to the Central lineup at both ends of the court. Krishnan has scored 20+ points in each of the last two games. At Georgetown he hit 6-of-11 three-pointers and scored a game-high 28 points - the most by an NEC freshman since Bryant's Nisre Zouzoua had 29 vs. LIU Brooklyn on Feb. 27, 2016. He followed that by scoring 22 points (7-11 fg) with 4 steals against UMass Lowell. Wallace hit all four of his field goals and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the foul line to finish with 12 points at Georgetown. He scored 9 points (4-8 fg) with 4 rebounds against UMass Lowell. He also had three blocked shots to begin the season.
CENTRAL AND THE THREE-POINT SHOT • CCSU has made a three-pointer in 101 straight games dating back to Feb. 5, 2015 at St. Francis Brooklyn. The Blue Devils have hit 12 three-pointers in two straight games. Last season, CCSU did not make more than 11 in a game as a team. CCSU is 24-of-49 (490) in the last two games. Central is shooting .464 from the arc as a team, which ranks 16th nationally and is pacing the Northeast Conference. Tyler Kohl (.571) and Ian Krishnan (.500) are top-5 shooters in the NEC.
