Bute Earns NEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honors
Central hosts Coppin State on Tuesday night for the 2017-18 home-opener.
Junior Deion Bute was named Northeast Conference Men's Basketball co-Player of the Week it was announced Monday by the conference office. Bute scored a career-high at St. John's and then helped lead CCSU to its first win of the year at ECU in a pair of games last week.
Central returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Coppin State for its 2017-18 home-opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Detrick Gymnasium.
For the week, Bute averaged a team-high 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks while shooting a scorching 72.2 percent from the floor over two games. He recorded a career-high 19 points on 8-11 shooting from the field and pulled down nine boards at St. John's on Monday. Bute, who hails from Philipsburg, St. Maarten, then posted his first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in CCSU's 79-68 win at East Carolina on Friday. The Tallahassee CC transfer is averaging 11.5 ppg and 7.0 rpg on the year for the Blue Devils.
