Men's Basketball Opens 2017-18 Season With Free Exhibition Game Thursday
The game is FREE and open to the public.
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team will open the 2017-18 season on Thursday night, Nov. 2, with an exhibition game against Nyack College in Detrick Gymnasium. Gametime is set for 8:00 p.m. and admission is FREE and open to all fans.
The free exhibition game will be the first opportunity for fans to see the Blue Devils this season as head coach Donyell Marshall has a squad that returns three starters and welcomes a talented group of five newcomers. CCSU opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10, at Hartford in an 8:00 p.m. tip off.

Senior Mustafa Jones (10.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg) and junior Austin Nehls (13.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg) headline the returnees for the Blue Devils. Jones started 26 games a season ago and posted career-high averages as a junior. Nehls is the team's top returning scorer and started every game. He was second in the Northeast Conference with 2.34 three-point field goals per game. Sophomore Tyson Batiste started 22 games as a freshman and led the team in assists. Along with a total of seven returning letterwinners, Marshall bolstered the roster with three junior college transfers in juniors Deion Bute and Tyler Kohl, as well as sophomore Joe Hugley, and a pair of freshmen guards in Talek Williams and Eduardo Camacho.
Central was tabbed ninth in the NEC Coaches' Preseason Poll announced at the league's "Social" Media Day last week. The team picked ninth in the preseason poll in each of the last two seasons advanced to the league's championship game, including the 2017-18 preseason favorite, Saint Francis U.
The Blue Devils open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Hartford in Chase Arena.
