Nehls to Represent Men's Basketball at NEC "Social" Media Day
The event will stream live on NEC Front Row and ESPN3 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Junior Austin Nehls will represent the Central Connecticut men's basketball program, along with head coach Donyell Marshall, at the Northeast Conference "Social" Media Day at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, on Wednesday, Oct. 25. The sixth edition of the league's launch of the basketball season will be available to stream live on both NEC Front Row and ESPN3 beginning at 11:00 a.m. NEC commentators Dave Popkin, Tim Capstraw and Craig D'Amico will serve as hosts of the telecast. The NEC will announce its men's and women's basketball preseason polls and All-Conference teams at the event.
Marshall is set to begin his second season at the helm of the CCSU program. He welcomes back three players with starting experience, including Nehls. The junior guard started all 29 games, playing a league-high 36.1 minutes per game. Nehls led the Blue Devils in scoring at 13.4 points per game and ranked second in three-pointers per game (2.34). He posted four 20-point games, including a career-high 26 points at Fordham, while shooting .370 from the arc.
Players and coaches will be interviewed during the telecast and made available to media attending the event. NEC Director of Social Media Ralph Ventre will engage fans during the telecast with the best tweets displayed on air. Central will host Nyack College in an exhibition game open to the public on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 8:00 p.m. The Blue Devils begin the 2017-18 season opens at Hartford on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m.
