Men's Basketball Stopped by Boston College on Thursday
Blue Devils host Binghamton on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team fell at Boston College, 82-57, on Thursday night at Conte Forum. The Blue Devils were held without a field goal during a stretch in the second half that allowed the Eagles to pull away for the final margin.
The loss drops CCSU to 0-3 on the season, while BC improves to 2-0.
Boston College held Central without a field goal during a decisive 24-2 run that stretched over 12:01 in the second half. The Blue Devils got within 55-45 on a three-pointer by freshman Austin Nehls before the Eagles pulled away.
Eli Carter opened the BC spurt with four straight points as the Eagles would stretch the lead to 79-47 following a three-pointer by Jordan Barros. Senior Brandon Peel converted a layup with 2:55 left to end the CCSU drought.
CCSU got off to a strong start on the play of junior JJ Cratit who had 10 points midway through the opening period. The Blue Devils led 20-17 following a three-pointer by junior Tidell Pierre with 8:41 to go in the first before the Eagles started to get hot from the floor.
A pair of foul shots from Eli Carter started a 16-2 run that put BC ahead by 11 points. Back-to-back three-pointers by Matt Milon made it 33-22 before a trifecta from junior Khalen Cumberlander ended the Eagles' run.
Cratit led the Blue Devils, scoring a career-high 20 points, while Cumberlander finished with 11 points. Peel just missed a double-double finishing with nine points and nine rebounds.
Carter led Boston College with 18 points and five assists. Jerome Robinson added 15 points and Milon added 11. The Eagles shot 50.0 percent for the game from the floor and outrebounded CCSU 41-34.
Central returns to action at home on Tuesday, Nov. 24, with a 7:00 p.m. tip against Binghamton in Detrick Gymnasium.
