Men's Hoop Seniors Earn Degrees
Horton, Ptacek and Simmons leave as a decorated bunch
Men's basketball seniors Ken Horton, Robby Ptacek and David Simmons all received their undergraduate degrees from CCSU on May 18, 2012. Horton and Ptacek leave as two of the top-10 scorers in school history.
"We are extremely proud of the effort and time these three individuals have put into their CCSU careers," head coach Howie Dickenman said. "And I don't just mean on the court. These three have taken the time as students first, and they are everything that Central Connecticut basketball is about. We couldn't be more proud."
The three student-athletes combined to score over 4,000 career points, grab more than 1,700 rebounds and play an amazing 9,657 career minutes.
Horton leaves as the all-time leading scorer in program history (1,966 points), was the 2010-11 Northeast Conference Player of the Year and was a two-time All-Conference selection.
Ptacek led the nation in free-throw shooting this year at 92 percent, and leaves hitting 392 of 442 career free-throw attempts. He also leaves with 1,531 career points while averaging 33 minutes a game in 112 games played.
Simmons scored 523 points and grabbed 475 rebounds in his four seasons. He was a career 56.7 percent shooter from the field and posted 89 career steals.
