Horton's Club Wins Portsmouth Invitational Championship
Roger Brown's goes 3-0 to win PIT title
Central Connecticut's Ken Horton, a three-time All-Conference selection and a former Northeast Conference Player of the Year, helped his team win the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament title on Saturday night.
Horton is the all-time leading scorer in CCSU men's basketball history with 1,966 career points. He was a First Team All-Conference selection as a senior after averaging 19.0 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
Horton, playing as a member of Roger Brown's, and his teammates topped the Portsmouth Sports Club 92-87 on Saturday night to win the title. He posted seven points and four rebounds in 20 minutes of action. He added three assists and a steal.
They had defeated Portsmouth Partnership 93-73 on Friday night to advance to the championship game. Horton had 11 points and a pair of rebounds. He was 5-of-8 from the floor, including 5-of-5 inside of three. He added a free-throw and a pair of steals.
Horton had a great game in the opener of the tournament, posting 12 points and eight rebounds in a 74-71 victory.
In the three-game tournament Horton averaged 10 points and 4.7 rebounds, while adding two assists and a steal per game. He was 12-of-31 from the field (38.7 percent), and 1-of-10 from three. He finished 5-of-5 from the free-throw line and averaged 24.3 minutes per game.
