Football Set For Season Finale At Stonehill
Smith and Umunakwe make final case for NEC Player of the Year consideration

Central Connecticut makes its first-ever trip to Stonehill for the 2022 season finale. Stonehill is the alma mater of current CCSU Director of Athletics Tom Pincince, who remains among the top-10 in Stonehill football history in numerous passing categories, after a standout career.
- Nasir Smith became the 16th player in CCSU history to reach 1,000 yards rushing in a season and comes into play with 1,001 on the year (100.1 ypg)
- Chizi Umunakwe leads the NEC in tackles per game, 9.1/game, and is 29th in the NCAA
- Smith is averaging 112.7 yards per game against NEC opponents after running for 148 yards Saturday with a TD to earn NEC Prime Performer accolades
- Aidan Clark is tops in the NEC at 39.3 yards per punt, 54th in the nation
- Kyren Petteway is second in the NEC with 482 combined kick return yards, 24th in the FCS
- Smith's 1,001 yards is currently 15th most in a single-season in program history. Smith's rush total is 16th best in the FCS, while his 100.1 yards per game is 18th, his nine rushing TD's 35th and his 4.65 ypc, 65th. He ranks first in the NEC in all of those, except rushing scores, where he is second. He has five 100+ yard rushing games and has reached 127 in four of six NEC contests
- Smith is 16th all-time in CCSU history with 1,608 career rushing yards. Four players in front of him on the list are within 100 yards
- The Blue Devils are second in the NEC, in league games, allowing just 291.7 yards per game. The offense is averaging 325.3 yards a game in NEC action.
