Dolegala Named Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Junior led CCSU to a 28-27 victory on the road at Duquesne on Saturday
Junior quarterback Jacob Dolegala has been named the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. Dolegala and the Blue Devils went to Duquense on Saturday and came away with a 28-27 victory, their fifth NEC title and their first-ever trip to the FCS Playoffs. The Blue Devils will finish the regular season this Saturday hosting Robert Morris at 12 pm. on Arute Field.
Dolegala had a hand in all four touchdowns in a 28-27 win over Duquesne on Saturday that secured the Blue Devils their fifth Northeast Conference title and first-ever trip to the NCAA FCS Playoffs. He threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more in the victory for CCSU, their seventh straight. With the win CCSU is 7-3 overall and 5-0 in league play heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
Dolegala finished the game 21-of-33 for 276 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner with 2:17 left in the fourth quarter. He also ran for a pair of touchdowns, including a career-long 16-yard score with 5:16 to play to moved CCSU within one score of the Dukes. He finished the game with nine rushes for 23 yards (he gained 39 total but was sacked three times).
Dolegala threw touchdown scores of 36 and 18 while running for scores of 2 and 16 yards in the victory.
On the final two scoring drives in the fourth quarter Dolegala was 5-for-6 for 74 yards and a touchdown and rushed the ball one time for 16 yards and another score.
