Holmes on CFPA Wide Receiver Award Watch List
Rising senior Tyrell Holmes has earned a spot on the CFPA Wide Receiver Award Watch List heading into the 2014 season.
Central Connecticut football's Tyrell Holmes was named to the CFPA Wide Receiver Award Watch List. The rising senior is one of 38 returning student-athletes at the Division I FCS level to earn a place on the initial list.
"Congratulations to Tyrell Holmes on earning a spot on this year's watch list," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Holmes produced a number of strong receiving performances in 2013."
Holmes moved to receiver last season after seeing significant time in the defensive backfield as a freshman and sophomore. The move was successful, as Holmes led the Blue Devils in receptions, yards and receiving touchdowns.
The rising senior caught 42 passes for a total of 774 yards and seven touchdowns. A big play threat, Holmes averaged 18.4 yards per reception and had three catches go for 59 or more yards.
The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
The full list of 2014 CFPA winners will be announced January 14, 2015.
The Blue Devils open the 2014 season on August 30 at Towson.
