Jeff McInerney to be Honored Guest at the 26th Annual Franciscan Sports Banquet

Head football coach Jeff McInerney will be an honored guest at the 26th Annual Franciscan Sports Banquet on Wednesday, June 8, at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT. McInerney and his team will be recognized for winning the Northeast Conference Championship for the past two seasons.

Blue-White Scrimmage Today at 1:30 p.m.

The Central Connecticut football team will end its spring season with the annual Blue-White Scrimmage this afternoon. The day will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the ring ceremony, as the 2010 Northeast Conference Champion Blue Devils are presented with their championship rings. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. At halftime, head coach Jeff McInerney will announced the 2011 captains. Admission to the spring game is free.

Blue and White Play to 31-31 Tie in Annual Spring Game at CCSU

Junior Kevin Woolfolk rushed eight times for 119 yards and three touchdowns as Central Connecticut played its annual Blue-White Scrimmage on Arute Field on Friday afternoon. The game ended in a 31-31 tie after the two teams combined for 42 second half points. The Blue Devils also received their 2010 Northeast Conference Championship rings prior to the game and announced their captains for the 2011 season at halftime.

Open Mac Returns on Monday to Discuss the 2011 Schedule and to Give an Update on Spring Ball

Coach Mac returns on Monday, Apr. 18 to discuss the recent release of the 2011 football schedule, and to give us an update on spring practice. Following a scrimmage last Friday, the Blue Devils have six official spring practices remaining before the Annual Blue-White Scrimmage on Friday, Apr. 29. Central Connecticut Releases 2011 Football Schedule

Head football coach Jeff McInerney announced his 2011 football schedule on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will once again play an 11-game schedule, five of which will be played on Arute Field. Central will open the year on Sept. 3 hosting Southern Connecticut on Arute Field. The Blue Devils enter the season winners of 14-straight home games, the second longest home winning streak in the country.

Football Spring Practice Set to Begin on Friday; Spring Game on Apr. 29th

The two-time defending Northeast Conference champion Central Connecticut football team will open spring practice on Friday, April 1. The Blue Devils will practice 14 times in April before finishing the spring season with the annual Blue-White Scrimmage on Friday, April 29 on Arute Field at 1:30 p.m.

Two-Time Defending NEC Champion Blue Devils Announce Football Recruiting Class

The Central Connecticut State University football team and Head Coach Jeff McInerney announced its 2011 recruiting class on Wednesday. The Blue Devils finished last season 8-3 and won their fourth Northeast Conference title in seven seasons. The Blue Devils graduate a decorated senior class from the 2010 championship season, but a strong recruiting class will help the Blue Devils contend for another NEC title in 2011.

Blue Devils Mourn the Loss of Student-Athlete Rich Royster

Central Connecticut State University student-athlete Rich Royster died early Saturday morning in a car accident on the Charter Oak Bridge south of Hartford. Royster, from Ossining, NY was a junior defensive lineman for the Blue Devils.

CCSU Championship Football Banquet to be Held on January 30th

The annual Central Connecticut State University football banquet will be held on Sunday, Jan. 30 on campus in Alumni Hall, located in the Student Center. The banquet will run from 2-3:30 p.m. Head Coach Jeff McInerney and the 2010 Blue Devils won their second straight NEC title and finished the year with an 8-3 record and a 7-1 league mark. Fans, parents and friends are invited to attend.

Senior Placekicker Joe Izzo Named ECAC All-Star

Senior placekicker Joe Izzo was named an ECAC All-Star on Saturday. Izzo is the lone placekicker on the team. After a tremendous senior season, Izzo has previously been named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-New England. He put together one of the best single seasons in CCSU history in 2010, helping Central win a share of its second straight NEC title.

CCSU Alum Steve Addazio Named Head Football Coach at Temple

Former Central Connecticut football player and CCSU alum Steve Addazio was named the head football coach at Temple University on Thursday. Addazio, also the former head coach at Cheshire High School, most recently was the offensive coordinator at the University of Florida. The announcement was made on Thursday in Philadelphia.

Senior Joe Izzo Kicks Four Field Goals in FCS Senior Scout Bowl on Saturday

All-Conference place-kicker Joe Izzo, who matched a school record with his 13 field goals this season, kicked four field goals to lead the North squad in a 14-12 loss to the South team Saturday afternoon. Created in an effort to showcase the talent of FCS players at the conclusion of their collegiate career, the inaugural game took place at Faller Field in Middletown, N.Y.

Central's Mike Allison and Joe Izzo Named to FCS All-New England Football Team

Seniors Mike Allison and Joe Izzo were named to the Football Championship Subdivision All-New England team, it was announced on Wednesday morning by the New England Football Writers. Allison was named on the offensive line and Izzo was the placekicker. The New England Football Writers choose just one offensive team, on defensive team and three special teams players among all the schools in New England who play FCS football.

Seven Blue Devils Earn Football All-Conference Honors on Friday

The Central Connecticut football team won a share of its second straight Northeast Conference Championship last Saturday with a 23-13 win at home over St. Francis (PA). On Friday, seven Blue Devils were honored by the NEC and named All-Conference. Four players were named to the first team, and three additional players earned second team honors. Central finished the season 8-3 overall and 7-1 in NEC play.

Alondre Rush Named Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week

On Saturday the Central Connecticut football team won a share of the Northeast Conference Championship for the fourth time since 2004. They finished the season with an 8-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in NEC play, good for a share of the title with Robert Morris. On Monday senior Alondre Rush was named the league's Special Teams Player of the Week. Rush and the Blue Devils won 23-13 at home on Saturday to finish the season.
