Rose Named Northeast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Central Connecticut sophomore defensive back Dominique Rose earned Northeast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors following his two-interception performance in a 36-0 Blue Devil win over St. Francis (PA). Rose, who leads CCSU with four interceptions on the season, made his first pick on the Red Flash's first possession of the second half. His took his second interception back 85 yards for a touchdown, the first of his career, on the first play of the fourth quarter. Rose also had six tackles, including four solo stops.

Rose had two of five CCSU interceptions against St. Francis (PA). His first came on the first Red Flash play of the second half. He picked George Little's pass intended for Omar Winston 35 yards downfield at the Blue Devil 38 yard line. The Blue Devils scored on the ensuing possession to take a 13-0 lead. With St. Francis looking to cut into a 20-0 lead at the start of the fourth quarter, Rose intercepted a Little pass at the Blue Devil 15 yard line and returned it 85 yards for his first career touchdown. It was the first Blue Devil interception returned for a score since Coree Tucker ran one back 40 yards at Colgate on Sept. 3, 2005.

The two interceptions helped lead the Blue Devil defense in its first shutout performance since the 1998 season. They blanked SFPA, 12-0, at home on Oct. 10, 1998. The five picks, meanwhile, were the most since CCSU had five in the 24-22 win at Colgate on Sept. 3, 2005.

Rose, who has four interceptions, 36 tackles and four pass break-ups on the season, shared the league's weekly honor with Albany's Dave Casale. Casale also had two picks, including one he took to paydirt, in a 41-7 win at Robert Morris.

Central Connecticut will finish its season with a trip to Sacred Heart this Saturday, Nov. 15. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
