Baseball Scores Six in the 8th Inning to Sweep FDU
The Central Connecticut baseball team won against FDU, 13-8, on Sunday to sweep the three-game Northeast Conference series in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils broke open a tie game with six runs in the eighth inning to win their fifth straight conference game.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Knights opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second before CCSU came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Following a pair of walks to open the frame, Kyle Gordon doubled down the left field line to go up 2-1.
- An unearned run in the third tied the game for FDU, before Central regained the lead in the fourth. Chris Brown and Antonio Ducatelli led off with a pair of singles and advanced on a sacrifice. Matt Falk would hit a deep fly to centerfield that plated Brown and allowed Ducatelli to race home from second to make it 4-2.
- Central padded its lead with three runs in the fifth. Aidan Redahan and Jackson Haker hit back-to-back doubles that each drove in a run. Ducatelli would follow with a two-out triple to drive in a run and make it 7-2.
- FDU made it a one-run game with four runs in the sixth. A bases-loaded walk plated the first run before Nate Dudek singled in two runs to make it 7-5. A sac fly would bring in another run and cut the lead to 7-6.
- The Knights tied the game in the top of the eighth when Jeremy Cheeseman hit a solo homerun to rightfield.
- CCSU answered with six runs in the eighth. Central loaded the bases with one out and Colby Brouillette pinch-hit. He would draw a walk that made it 8-7. With the bases still loaded, Bo Yaworski singled through the right side to score two runs and Brown followed with a double to plate two more and make it 12-7. Ducatelli followed with a double of his own to drive in Brown.
- FDU got a RBI single by Diego Urreta in the ninth, but the Central defense would end the game with a double-play.
NOTES
- Ducatelli had three hits and hit for the cycle in the weekend. He had two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Brown scored three runs and had two RBIs, while collecting two hits.
- Six Blue Devils had multiple hits in the game.
- Alex Dreyfus started for CCSU and went 4.2 innings. He struck out four and allowed one earned run.
- Richie Kerstetter tossed 1.1 innings in relief and had two strikeouts.
- CCSU leads the all-time series, 66-31, and has won the last five meetings.
