Six-Run Sixth Lifts Baseball by Mount St. Mary's on Friday
Central Connecticut opened the weekend with an 8-2 win at Mount St. Mary's on Thursday in Northeast Conference action at Straw Family Stadium. The Blue Devils broke open a tied game with a six-run sixth inning to give senior Andrew Braun all the support he would need.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils opened the scoring with an unearned run in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Matt Bertochi would score on a misplayed ball put in play by senior Buddy Dewaine to make it 1-0.
- After a homerun by Thomas Brmley tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, CCSU came back with six runs in the sixth inning. Central put on two runners with one out before freshman Elliot Good singled to drive in a run and make it 2-1. After a walk loaded the bases, Bertochi singled home a run and freshman Michael Torniero was hit by a pitch to force in another run and make it 4-1. Junior Jay Devito followed with an RBI-single and an error on the play allowed another run to score and make it 6-1. Freshman Noah Martinez followed with a sac fly to left to make it 7-1.
- Mount would plate a run in the sixth, but CCSU got it back in the seventh when senior Dave Matthews managed to swipe home after a strikeout to make it 8-2.

- Braun allowed two runs on five hits in 7.0 innings. He struck out seven without allowing a walk. In 10 appearances this season, he has not allowed more than one walk in a game. He has 62 strikeouts to just five walks on the year.
