Big Inning Carries Baseball Past Wagner on Saturday
The Central Connecticut baseball team won its second game of the weekend at Wagner in Northeast Conference action with a 9-3 win on Saturday at FirstEnergy Park. The Blue Devils did all of their damage in the third inning when they collected seven hits to push across all the runs they would need to win their third straight overall.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils trailed 1-0 until the third inning. Junior Matt Bertochi led off with a ground-rule double as the first seven batters in the inning would reach safely. Bertochi would score on a single by sophomore Dan Covino to tie the game, 1-1. Freshman Noah Martinez would double in a run, while junior Sam Loda and Bertochi each had two-run doubles in the inning. Covino had a pair of RBI singles in the inning, while junior Jay Devito and senior Buddy Dewaine each drove in a run as well.
- Senior Brandon Fox would hold the Wagner offense in check until giving up an RBI single to Johnny Kampes and a sac fly to Tyler Sanfilippo in the sixth. The Seahawks would make it 9-3, but Fox would hand it over to the bullpen which allowed just two hits and a walk over the final 3.0 innings to secure the win.
