Martinez Earns NEC Rookie of the Week

Redshirt freshman Noah Martinez was named Northeast Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week it was announced by the league on Tuesday. Martinez, along with seniors Dave Matthews and Buddy Dewaine, was also named a Prime Performer for his performance in the season-opening win on Sunday.

Martinez went 3-for-4 with five RBIs in a win over UAlbany to open the season. He hit a two-run homerun in the sixth inning an would also have a pair of run-scoring singles in the win.

The league also recognized a pair of Blue Devils with mentions on the Prime Performer list. Matthews hit a pair of homeruns with six RBIs, while Dewaine finished 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI.

Central will host Stony Brook for a three-game series beginning on Friday.
