Baseball's Rally Comes Up Short at Quinnipiac Wednesday
The Blue Devils play a three-game series at Wagner beginning Friday.
The Central Connecticut baseball team rallied late at Quinnipiac but fell, 6-5, on Wednesday in Hamden, CT. The Blue Devils closed to within a run with a three-run eighth inning, but the Bobcats managed to hold off the rally. Central slips to 18-18 overall after the loss.

The teams traded runs in the second and third innings on solo homeruns to open the scoring. Liam Scafariello hit a solo homerun for Quinnipiac in the second inning.
The Blue Devils tied the game in the top of the third after sophomore Sam Loda hit a two-out solo homerun to left field to make it 1-1.
Quinnipiac regained the lead with a run in the fifth, followed by four more in the sixth to build a 6-2 lead. Kevin Huscher doubled home a run in the fifth and then hit a two-run homerun in the sixth to give the Bobcats a four-run lead.
CCSU scored a run in the visitor's sixth after junior Chandler Debrosse reached via an error and stole second and moved to third on another error. He would come home on a sac fly by Loda to make it 6-2.
Central would try to rally in the eighth after freshman Dylan Sanchez reached on an error to lead off. Sophomore Jay Devito followed with a single and after a wild pitch CCSU would have runners on second and third with no outs. Debrosse would deliver a double to drive in two runs and Loda followed with a single to plate another run to make it 6-5. A walk would put runners on first and second with no outs for CCSU before QU got three straight outs to end the rally in the eighth and followed with a scoreless ninth to end the game.
Loda finished with two hits and three RBIs for Central, while Debrosse scored a pair of runs and drove in two more.
Sophomore Matt Shane started and went 5.0 innings for CCSU. He allowed two runs and scattered five hits, while posting a pair of strikeouts.
Brian Moskey had four hits for QU, while Huscher drove in three runs. Matthew Draper allowed one earned run in 6.0 innings and had six strikeouts for the win.
