Baseball #3 Seed in NEC Tourney
Central is looking for its fifth Northeast Conference title
No team is hotter than the Central Connecticut baseball team entering the 2012 Northeast Conference baseball tournament this week. The Blue Devils have won eight of their last nine NEC contests, and finished in a tie for third place in the regular season standings. They will be the third seed in the NEC Tournament, beginning on Thursday, May 17, and will face #2 Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m.
The Blue Devils have qualified for their seventh straight tournament and their 12 in the last 13 seasons under head coach Charlie Hickey.

NORTHEAST CONFERENCE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
The Blue Devils, who finished the regular season with a 28-22 record and a 19-13 mark in league play, last won the conference title in 2010. They also won titles in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Central posted at least 25 wins for the seventh straight season. It is the 11th time in 13 years under head coach Charlie Hickey that the Blue Devils have reached that mark.
Monmouth is the top seed in the tournament, followed by Sacred Heart, CCSU and Fairleigh Dickinson. Central split the season series with Monmouth and Sacred Heart, and lost three out of four to FDU. Since dropping the first three games of the FDU series, the Blue Devils have won eight of nine against league opponents.
Central is coming off a dominating four-game sweep on the road vs. Mount St. Mary's to end the regular season. Central outscored the Mount 48-9 and batted .419 on the weekend. Seven Blue Devils posted an average of over .400, and nine players had two or more RBI on the weekend.
