DelaCruz drives in two in the win
The Central Connecticut baseball team won its third straight game, 5-3, over visiting LIU Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils finish the weekend series taking 3-of-4 from the Blackbirds. They are now 13-9 overall and 5-3 in Northeast Conference play.
The Blue Devils scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to open up a 5-0 lead. The first run scored on an RBI single from senior catcher A.J. Lowers. A bunt single from senior Mitch Wells loaded the bases for sophomore Dylan DelaCruz.
DelaCruz singled through the left side to score the first two runs. During the play a throwing error by the LIU catcher led to both Wells and DelaCruz scoring, giving the Blue Devils the 5-0 advantage.
The Blackbirds got two in the top of the fifth inning to make it 5-2. They scored again in the sixth, an RBI single from Tito Marrero, to cut it to 5-3.
