Brown Earns NEC Rookie Honor for Second Time
Pitched complete game shutout in 4-0 win over St. Joseph's
Freshman lefty Cody Brown was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second straight week on Monday. Brown and the Blue Devils went to Philadelphia over the weekend and won two of three games.
Brown is 2-for-2 thus far as a rookie starter in Central Connecticut's pitching rotation. Taking the ball against Atlantic-10 member Saint Joseph's in his second career start, the freshman southpaw tossed a complete-game shutout.
The 4-0 win over Saint Joe's came six days after Brown opened his CCSU career by tossing 8.0 innings in a 3-2 victory over Navy.
Again displaying great control, the Blue Devils' rookie left-hander scattered eight hits and did not walk a single batter in 9.0 frames against SJU. He struck out one and faced 33 batters in pitching CCSU to its second win of the season.
Brown has not issued a base on balls in his first 17.0 innings as a collegiate starter.
