Former Blue Devil Scribner Makes First Major League Appearance

Former Central Connecticut pitcher Evan Scribner, called up by the San Diego Padres on Monday, made his major league debut on Tuesday night. In an 8-2 loss to the Braves, Scribner pitched two scoreless innings.

Scribner was called up to the big club on Monday night, after spending the beginning of the season in AAA Tucson. He faced eight batters in his debut, allowing a pair of hits and walking one, but not allowing a run.

After allowing a single against his first major league batter, Scribner got Chipper Jones to ground into a double play. He allowed one more hit in his first inning of work. In his second inning, Scribner walked the first batter but then got three straight outs to get out of the inning.
