Blue Devils Sweep Fairleigh Dickinson in Baseball on Friday Afternoon
The Central Connecticut baseball team swept a doubleheader at home vs. Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday afternoon. With the win the Blue Devils improve to 19-15-1 overall and 11-8 in Northeast Conference play. Senior lefty Dave Krasnowiecki pitched a complete-game one-hitter in game one as the Blue Devils won 2-0. The Blue Devil bats came alive in the second game as Central posted a 7-3 win. The two teams will finish the weekend series with a single game on Saturday.

Krasnowiecki pitched a complete-game one-hitter in game one as
the Blue Devils won 2-0. The Blue Devil bats came alive in the
second game as Central posted a 7-3 win. The two teams will finish
the weekend series with a single game on Saturday.
The Blue Devils scored the first run of the game in the bottom of
the fifth inning. Sophomore Tyler
McIntyre led off the inning with a double and went to third on
a sacrifice bunt from catcher A.J.
Lowers. He scored on a sacrifice fly from junior Jake
Matuszak, making it 1-0.
The lead reached 2-0 in the sixth. With one out senior Pat Epps
singled, and then scored on a double down the left field line from
senior Sean
Miller-Jones.
Krasnowiecki pitched a complete game to win his third game of the
season. He allowed just one hit and struck out five FDU batters in
the game. He faced more than four batters in an inning just once.
He walked four and hit one but retired seven of the final eight
batters he faced. The senior has won two straight decisions.
Epps had a pair of hits in game one and reached base in all three
of his plate appearances. Matuszak had a hit and an RBI, and
Miller-Jones had a double and an RBI for the Blue Devils.
The Knight struck first in game two with a single run in the first
off of sophomore starter Nick
Neumann.
The Blue Devils took the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth
inning. Freshman Dylan
DelaCruz tripled to lead off the inning and then scored on a
double by junior Mitch
Wells. Wells scored on a sacrifice fly from Miller-Jones,
making it 2-1.
Central scored five more in the fifth inning. Freshman Anthony
Turgeon doubled and scored on a single from McIntyre.
Sophomore Andy
Lalli singled and a sacrifice bunt put runners on second and
third with one out. A sacrifice fly from DelaCruz scored one and
an Epps double scored two more. Miller-Jones drove in the fifth
run with a single up the middle to make it 7-1.
The Knights scored two in the sixth to cut the lead to 7-3.
Neumann pitched a complete game to win his fourth game of the
season. He allowed three runs and six hits while striking out
seven FDU batters.
The Blue Devils and Knights are scheduled to finish the weekend
series with a single nine-inning game on Saturday.
