Season
Mitch Wells Named NEIBA All-Star on Monday

Junior third baseman Mitch Wells was named a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-Star on Monday. Wells batted .360 with a team-high 73 hits and 43 runs batted in in 2011. The Blue Devils ended the season with a 26-25-1 overall record. Wells was previously named a First Team All-Northeast Conference selection for the second straight season.

Baseball Ends Season with 6-3 Loss to Monmouth on Sunday Afternoon

The Central Connecticut baseball season came to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 6-3 loss to Monmouth in an elimination game in the Northeast Conference Tournament. Central ends the season with a 26-25-1 overall record. Freshman J.P. Sportman drove in a pair of runs in the loss. Monmouth advances to face Sacred Heart later on Sunday.

Baseball Stays Alive in Northeast Conference Tournament with 2-1 Win Over Long Island

The Central Connecticut baseball team stayed alive in the 2011 Northeast Conference baseball tournament with a 2-1 win over Long Island on Saturday afternoon. Senior Sean Miller-Jones and freshman Anthony Turgeon each had an RBI in the victory as Central allowed two or fewer runs for the second straight day. They will advance to play Monmouth on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Baseball Falls into Loser's Bracket with 2-1 Loss to Top Seed Monmouth

The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped into the loser's bracket of the 2011 Northeast Conference Tournament after a 2-1 loss to top seed Monmouth on Friday afternoon. Central held a 1-0 lead until the eighth inning when the Hawks scored both of their runs. The Blue Devils will play Long Island in the first elimination game at 12 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Norwich, CT.

Four Blue Devils Named All-Conference for Baseball on Thursday Night

On the eve of the 2011 Northeast Conference Baseball Tournament, four Blue Devils were named All-Conference on Thursday night. Central placed two on the First Team and two more on the Second Team. The Blue Devils are the fourth seed in the NEC Tournament which begins on Friday. Central plays top-seed Monmouth on Friday at 12 p.m. at Dodd Stadium in Norwich.

Northeast Conference Baseball Tournament to Begin on Friday at 12 Noon

The Northeast Conference baseball tournament will begin on Friday at 12 noon in Norwich, CT, as the fourth-seed Blue Devils face the top-seed Monmouth Hawks. The tournament was rescheduled and postponed one day due to inclement weather in the Norwich area. Fans can follow the action live on NortheastConference.tv.

Athletics Department Holds Annual Blue Devil Golf Classic

The Central Connecticut Department of Athletics held its annual Blue Devil Golf Classic this past Friday, May 13, at Stanley Golf Course in New Britain. The Classic is the department's biggest fundraiser during the year, and helps celebrate another successful year in Blue Devil athletics.

Baseball Series Finale at Long Island Washed Out

Sunday's baseball game at Long Island has been canceled due to rain. It will not be made up. The Blue Devils end the regular season with a 25-23-1 overall record and a 17-14 mark in Northeast Conference play. They will be the #4 seed in this week's NEC Tournament in Norwich, CT, and will play top seed Monmouth on Thursday at Dodd Stadium. Baseball Sweeps Saturday Doubleheader at Long Island

The Central Connecticut baseball team swept a doubleheader on the road at Long Island on Saturday afternoon. Central won the first game 10-2 and the second 8-0. With the pair of wins the Blue Devils move to 25-23-1 overall and 17-14 in Northeast Conference play. The two teams will finish the weekend series on Sunday at 12 p.m. Central has qualified for next week's NEC Tournament, and will be the #4 seed.

The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 4-3 decision at home in a non-conference game against Northeastern on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Devils drop to 23-22-1 overall with the loss, and now prepare for a key Northeast Conference series at Long Island this weekend. Central travels to Long Island on Friday for the series opener beginning at 3 p.m.

Blue Devils Fall in Extra Innings to Sacred Heart in Series Finale

The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 4-3 extra-inning decision on Sunday afternoon to Sacred Heart. The game was the final Northeast Conference home game for the Blue Devils. Sacred Heart completed the four-game sweep, and in the process dropped the Blue Devils to 23-21-1 overall and 15-13 in NEC play. The Pioneers improve to 27-20 overall and 19-9 in the league.

The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped both ends of a home doubleheader on Saturday against Sacred Heart. The Pioneers took the first game 11-4, and won the second 8-6. With the losses the Blue Devils fall to 23-20-1 overall and 15-12 in Northeast Conference action. The Pioneers are now 26-20 overall and 18-9 in league action.

Baseball Drops Series Opener to Sacred Heart on Friday

The Central Connecticut baseball team had its four-game winning streak stopped with a 7-4 home loss to Sacred Heart on Friday. The game was the first of a four-game weekend series with the Pioneers. With the loss Central falls to 23-18-1 overall and 15-10 in Northeast Conference play. Sacred Heart is 24-20 overall and 16-9 in league action.

Baseball Rained Out at Boston College on Wednesday

Central Connecticut and Boston College played four full innings before the rain came in Boston and forced the game to be stopped just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The game was tied 1-1 when it was suspended. It is possible the game will be replayed at a later date.

Miller-Jones Named Akadema/Northeast Conference Player of the Week

Senior second baseman Sean Miller-Jones was named the Akadema/Northeast Conference baseball player of the week on Monday. Miller-Jones and the Blue Devils completed a weekend sweep on the road at Quinnipiac on Sunday, outscoring the Bobcats 43-9 in the four-game set.
