Senior Sean Allaire has added another All-America honor to his
resume, following one of the best single-seasons in school
history. Allaire was named a Third-Team ABCA All-American earlier
this week. Earlier this season he was named a Louisville Slugger
All-American. He earned the honor after being named to the ABCA
All-Region First Team as a utility player. He was joined on the
All-Region team by junior teammate Pat Epps.
Both players also earned First Team All-Conference, First Team
All-New England and First Team All-ECAC honors this season. The
Blue Devils won the 2010 Northeast Conference Championship last
month, the fourth title for the Blue Devils since 2002. Allaire was also the league's Player of the
Year, and Epps was the NEC Tournament MVP.
Allaire led the team with a .426 average, while matching the
school-record with 100 hits in his senior campaign. His season was
nothing short of spectacular. His 100 hits included a
school-record 22 doubles, six triples, 13 home runs and 73 RBI.
His RBI total tied for the team-lead with Epps and is a new
school-record.
Epps was named the 2010 NEC Tournament Most Valuable Player, after
batting .556 with 10 hits in 18 at-bats in the NEC Tournament. On
the season he finished second on the team in hitting at .418 with
92 hits, 14 doubles, a school-record 18 home runs and the 73 RBI.
His 92 hits are the third-highest single season total in school
history. His on-base percentage of .506 led the team, as did his
34 walks. He led the team with 66 runs scored, followed closely
behind by Allaire who had 65.
Epps and Allaire were the cornerstones of a solid offensive year
for the Blue Devils. In all, five players are batting at least
.366 and all five have 74 or more hits in the 56 games. The Blue
Devils hit .341 as a team, which is a new school-record. They
scored a school-record 472 runs while hitting a school-record 70
home runs. Three players have hit 10 or more home runs, including
Epps, Allaire and senior Tommy
Meade (10).
