Baseball Drops 12-6 Decision on Friday at Mount St. Mary's
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 12-6 decision on the road at Mount St. Mary's on Friday afternoon. With the loss the Blue Devils fall to 21-17 overall and 10-11 in Northeast Conference action. Senior Richie Tri had three hits and drove in a pair of runs in the loss for Central. The two teams will continue the weekend series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 12-6 decision on
the road at Mount St. Mary's on Friday afternoon. With the loss
the Blue Devils fall to 21-17 overall and 10-11 in Northeast
Conference action. Senior Richie Tri had three hits
and drove in a pair of runs in the loss for Central. The two teams
will continue the weekend series with a doubleheader on Saturday
beginning at 12 p.m.
Mount took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the second inning.
Central answered in the third to tie the score. Tri led off the
inning with a home run, and senior Anthony Scialdone drove in a
run to tie it 2-2.
The Mount opened it up with four runs in the fourth inning to take
a 6-2 lead.
Central got one back in the fifth and one more in the sixth to cut
it to 6-4. Junior Pat Epps drove in the run in
the fifth, and Tri drove in his second run of the game in the
sixth.
The Mount answered again in the sixth, scoring three runs to take a
9-4 lead. One run in the seventh and another in the eight cut it
to 9-6. Senior Sean Allaire homered in the
seventh, and junior Sean Miller-Jones drove in a
run in the eighth.
The Mount scored three more in the bottom of the eighth to take the
12-6 lead.
Tri had three hits, a home run and two RBI. Allaire added his home
run and had two hits in the loss.
The Blue Devils hit a pair of home runs in the game, giving them 43
on the season, a new school record.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at
noon.
