Richie Tri (4 Hits, 6 RBI) and Mitch Wells (6 Hits, 5 RBI) Lead Blue Devils to 19-6 Win at Hartford
Senior outfielder Richie Tri homered and drove in six runs, and sophomore Mitch Wells went 6-for-6 and drove in five runs as the Central Connecticut State University baseball team topped Hartford 19-6 on Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Devils had 19 hits in the victory, and improved to 20-16 overall on the season. They return to action on Wednesday at Fairfield beginning 3 p.m.

drove in five runs as the Central Connecticut State University
baseball team topped Hartford 19-6 on Tuesday afternoon. The Blue
Devils had 19 hits in the victory, and improved to 20-16 overall on
the season. They return to action on Wednesday at Fairfield
beginning 3 p.m.
Six pitchers made appearances for the Blue Devils, who also play on
Wednesday at Fairfield and then in a weekend series at Mount St.
Mary's starting on Friday. Senior Tyler Riordan got the win,
pitching two innings and allowing just one hit while striking out
two.
The game featured a pair of rain delays and did not end until 6:30
after beginning at 2 p.m.
Central put up four runs in the first inning, one in the second and
one in the fourth to lead 6-3 after four innings.
They opened it up with a nine-run fifth inning, sending 12 men to
the plate, and producing six hits and three walks. Tri and Wells
each had two hits, two RBI and two runs each in the fifth inning
alone.
Senior Sean Allaire went 3-for-5
with two RBI and two runs scored. He raised his league-leading
batting average to .439 with his three hits. Junior Pat Epps
was 4-for-5 with an RBI and four runs scored on the day. Allaire
now has the team-lead with 46 RBI, while Epps is right behind with
43 on the season.
The six hits for Wells is a career-high, as are his five RBI. Four
of his hits were doubles. He raised his average to .400 on the year
with his six hits, becoming the third Blue Devil on the team to be
batting at least .400 (Tommy Meade is batting .406). Tri's six RBI
were also a career-high, as the Blue Devils drove in 18 of the 19
runs on the day.
Central returns to action on Wednesday at Fairfield at 3 p.m.
