Baseball Drops Series Opener at Sacred Heart on Friday Afternoon
The Central Connecticut baseball team opened a weekend series at Sacred Heart with a 3-1 loss on Friday afternoon in Bridgeport. With the loss the Blue Devils fall to 11-12 overall and 6-7 in Northeast Conference action. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, also in Bridgeport and then finish the series with a single game on Sunday.

Sacred Heart with a 3-1 loss on Friday afternoon in Bridgeport.
With the loss the Blue Devils fall to 11-12 overall and 6-7 in
Northeast Conference action. The two teams will play a
doubleheader on Saturday, also in Bridgeport and then finish the
series with a single game on Sunday.
Junior Sean Miller-Jones provided
the only scoring of the afternoon for the Blue Devils when he led
off the game with a solo home run to left field.
The Pioneers answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the
inning to grab a 2-1 lead. They added a run in the fourth to
stretch their lead to 3-1.
Sophomore lefty Jason Foster was strong on
the mound for the Blue Devils in the loss. He pitched 7.1 innings
allowing nine hits and three earned runs. He struck out two and
walked only one but picked up the loss on the afternoon. Senior Tyler
Riordan pitched the final two thirds of an inning and helped
Central get out of a jam in the eighth inning without allowing a
run.
Miller-Jones ended the day with the only RBI for the Blue Devils.
His long ball was his second of the season. Sophomore Mitch
Wells and senior Richie Tri each had a pair
of hits in the loss.
The Blue Devils and Pioneers will play a doubleheader on Saturday
beginning at 1 p.m.
