Baseball Drops Both Ends of Doubleheader at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a doubleheader at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday afternoon, losing the first game 6-4 and the second 5-3. With the losses Central drops to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in Northeast Conference play. The teams are scheduled to play another doubleheader on Sunday at 12 p.m. to complete the weekend series.

Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday afternoon, losing the first game
6-4 and the second 5-3. With the losses Central drops to 3-7
overall and 0-2 in Northeast Conference play. The teams are
scheduled to play another doubleheader on Sunday at 12 p.m. to
complete the weekend series.
In game on the Knights scored single runs in the second and third
innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Blue Devils tied the game at 2-2
on a two-run home run by junior Pat Epps in the top of the
sixth inning. It was his first of the season.
Fairleigh Dickinson retook the lead with three runs in the bottom
of the sixth. They added another in the seventh to make it
6-2.
Central loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth
inning. Senior Sean Allaire added a
sacrifice fly with one out and Epps reached on an error scoring a
second run making it 6-4.
Blue Devil starter Harry
Glynne went five innings allowing four runs on seven hits. He
struck out two but picked up the loss in the game. Jack
Greenhouse, Roy Natoli and Donny
White pitched the final four inning allowing a pair of runs on
three hits while striking out three.
FDU won the second game 5-3 to complete the two-game sweep. They
took a 5-0 lead with one run in the second and two each in the
third and fourth innings.
Central scored one in the fifth and two more in the sixth to cut
the lead to 5-3. They would get no closer.
In the fifth senior Anthony Scialdone had a
sacrifice fly to score classmate Richie Tri for the first run
of the game for Central. In the sixth inning Tri and freshman
Chris Renzoni each drove in a run as the Blue Devils pushed a pair
of runs across the plate.
Junior lefty Dave
Krasnowiecki pitched all six innings for the Blue Devils
allowing four earned runs on seven hits while striking out two. He
falls to 2-1 on the season with his first loss.
Central and FDU will complete the weekend series with a
doubleheader on Sunday. The two teams will play a seven inning
game first followed by a nine inning game, all beginning at
noon.
