Sean Allaire Earns Another All-America Nod; Named All-Region Along With Teammate Pat Epps

Senior Sean Allaire has added another All-America honor to his resume, following one of the best single-seasons in school history. Allaire was named a Third-Team ABCA All-American earlier this week. Earlier this season he was named a Louisville Slugger All-American. He earned the honor after being named to the ABCA All-Region First Team as a utility player. He was joined on the All-Region team by junior teammate Pat Epps.

Epps and Allaire Continue to Earn Post-Season Honors, Named ECAC All-Stars

The post-season honors continue to roll in for a pair of Blue Devils in 2010. Senior Sean Allaire and junior Pat Epps were named ECAC Division I All-Stars on Tuesday. Both players were named to the First Team. Epps earned the honor in the outfield while Allaire earned the nod as a utility player. Both players also earned First Team All-Conference and First Team All-New England honors this season. The Blue Devils won the 2010 Northeast Conference Championship last month, the fourth title for the Blue Devils since 2002.

Sean Allaire Named Louisville Slugger Third Team All-American

Senior Sean Allaire continues to receive post-season accolades following one of the most successful individual single seasons in Central Connecticut baseball history. Allaire was named a Third Team Louisville Slugger All-American this week by Collegiate Baseball magazine. He batted .426 and matched a school-record with 100 hits on the season, while also being named the Northeast Conference Player of the Year.

Baseball Season Comes to End with NCAA Tournament Loss on Saturday

The Central Connecticut baseball season came to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 25-5 loss to Connecticut in the second game of the NCAA Tournament in Norwich. The Blue Devils finish the 2010 season with a 33-23 overall record, marking their sixth season in the last 11 with at least 30 win. They captured their fourth Northeast Conference Championship last weekend in Bridgewater, NJ. UConn advances in the regional, and will play on Sunday against the loser of the Oregon and Florida State game on Saturday night.

Baseball Drops First Round NCAA Tournament Game to Florida State on Friday Afternoon

The Central Connecticut State University baseball team dropped its opening game of the 2010 NCAA Baseball Championship to Florida State on Friday afternoon in Norwich, CT. Central, the 2010 Northeast Conference Champion, dropped a 11-3 decision to the Seminoles in their first NCAA game since 2004. The loss drops Central to 33-22 on the season, and snaps a three-game winning streak. The Blue Devils will face UConn at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Baseball to Face UConn on Saturday at 2 p.m. in NCAA Baseball Tournament

Central Connecticut dropped its first game of the 2010 NCAA Tournament on Friday, 11-3, to Florida State. The Blue Devils play again on Saturday at 2 p.m., and will face a familiar foe. Central and UConn will meet in the first elimination game of the Norwich Regional on Saturday. UConn dropped a 5-3 decision to Oregon on Friday night. Allaire and Epps Named to NEIBA All-New England First Team

Senior Sean Allaire and junior Pat Epps, fresh off their Northeast Conference title on Sunday, were named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-New England baseball team this week. Allaire was named at shortstop and Epps earned the nod in the outfield. Both players and their teammates are preparing for this week's NCAA Regional, being played in nearby Norwich, CT. Central will face Florida State in the first game of the regional on Friday at 2 p.m. at Dodd Stadium in Norwich.

Blue Devils Headed to Nearby Norwich for NCAA Baseball Regional to Face Florida State on Friday at 2 p.m.

On the heels of their fourth Northeast Conference baseball championships, the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils will travel to nearby Norwich, CT for the 2010 NCAA Baseball Regionals. Central, now 33-21 on the season after winning the NEC title with a 9-6 over Sacred Heart on Sunday, is entering the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004, but the fourth time this decade. Central will face Florida State in the first round. Connecticut and Oregon will meet in the other game in the regional.

Epps and Riordan Lead Blue Devils to 2010 Northeast Conference Baseball Championship

Junior Pat Epps hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning, and senior pitcher Tyler Riordan pitched 6.2 innings of one-run relief as the Central Connecticut State University baseball team topped Sacred Heart 9-3 on Sunday to claim its fourth Northeast Conference baseball championship title. The Blue Devils won three straight games, including two over the Pioneers, to claim the 2010 title. It marks the fourth since 2002 for Central, the most of any team in the league. Epps was named the tournament Most Valuable Player.

Zarotney's Grand Slam Sends Central to Winner-Take-All Game on Sunday in NEC Tournament

Senior outfielder Kyle Zarotney hit a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Central Connecticut State University baseball team to a 9-6 victory over Sacred Heart in the Northeast Conference baseball tournament on Saturday. The win forces a winner-take-all game on Sunday at noon, also against the top seeded Pioneers. Zarotney's home run was his second of the day. He finished with eight RBI in the two victories, as Central improved to 32-21 overall on the season. Action begins on Sunday at 12 noon.

Foster Pitches Blue Devils to Victory Over Wagner in Elimination Game; CCSU to Play Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m.

Sophomore southpaw Jason Foster pitched the Central Connecticut State University baseball team to a 7-2 victory in a Northeast Conference Tournament elimination game on Saturday against Wagner. Foster pitched his first career complete game, allowing 10 hits and just two runs while striking out a career-high seven batters in the win. Central advances to face top seed Sacred Heart today at 3:30 p.m. The Blue Devils are trying to force a seventh game in the tournament, which would take place on Sunday at noon. They need to beat the Pioneers twice to win the NEC title.

Blue Devils Drop Into Loser's Bracket with 8-3 Loss vs. Sacred Heart on Friday

The second seeded Central Connecticut State University baseball team fell into the loser's bracket of the Northeast Conference Tournament with an 8-3 loss to top seed Sacred Heart on Friday. The loss, which drops Central to 30-21 on the season, puts the Blue Devils in an elimination game on Saturday at 12 noon against Wagner. Central topped the Seahawks 5-3 on Thursday in the first game of the tournament for both teams. Wagner defeated Monmouth 9-4 in Friday's first contest.

Senior Sean Allaire Named Northeast Conference Baseball Player of the Year; Five Blue Devils Make First Team

Senior Sean Allaire was named the Northeast Conference baseball player of the year, it was announced on Wednesday night at the annual pre-tournament barbecue. Allaire becomes the third Blue Devil to earn the honor, joining former standouts Tim D'Aquila (2003) and Keith Stegnauer (2004). He led the league in hitting with a .456 average, and as of Monday morning was third in the country in in that category. The Blue Devils placed five players on the All-Conference First Team, including Allaire, junior Pat Epps, seniors Richie Tri and Tommy Meade and sophomore Mitch Wells.

Blue Devils Advance in Winner's Bracket With 5-3 Win Over Wagner on Thursday

Junior lefty Dave Krasnowiecki pitched a complete game to improve to 7-2 on the season as the Central Connecticut State University baseball team topped Wagner 5-3 in the first game of the Northeast Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon. The game was played at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ. The Blue Devils advance in the winner's bracket on Friday and will play top seed Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m. Four different Blue Devils had an RBI in the game. The win is the 30th of the season for the Blue Devils.

Baseball Begins Quest for Fourth Northeast Conference Title on Thursday

The Central Connecticut State University baseball team begins its quest for the Northeast Conference title on Thursday afternoon in Bridgewater, NJ at 3:30 p.m. The second-seeded Blue Devils will face the third-seeded Seahawks of Wagner on the first day of the championships. Central, who averaged almost nine runs a game and set a school-record with 66 home runs this season, is looking for its first title since 2004.

Baseball Ends Regular Season With Victory on Senior Day on Sunday

The Central Connecticut State University baseball team ended the regular season with a 16-10 victory over Long Island on Sunday. The win came on Senior Day, as the Blue Devils honored their nine seniors prior to the first pitch. Senior Dan Markoya picked up his second win of the season on the mound. With the victory the Blue Devils end the regular season 29-20 overall and 18-14 in Northeast Conference play. As the #2 seed, they will face #3 seed Wagner on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the NEC Tournament being held in New Jersey.
