Baseball Drops 6-3 Decision at UConn on Monday Afternoon

Junior Sean Allaire drove in a pair of runs but the Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 6-3 decision at UConn on Monday afternoon. With the loss the Blue Devils falls to 23-19 overall this season. They return to action this weekend at Monmouth in an important Northeast Conference series beginning on Friday. The Blue Devils currently stand in fifth place, just a half game out of the fourth and final tournament spot, with four regular season league games remaining.

The Blue Devils took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Sophomore Pat Epps singled and went to second on a bunt single by senior Jay Schillaci. Senior Sean Connors reached on a fielder's choice, and with an error on the play, Epps scored the first run of the game. Junior Tommy Meade singled and with two outs Allaire singled through the first side, scoring two more runs and making it 3-0.

The Huskies scored a single run in the sixth inning and then scored five more in the eighth, to come away with the 6-3 win.

Allaire finished with two hits and a pair of RBI. Meade also had a pair of hits in the loss for the Blue Devils.

CCSU returns to action on Friday at Monmouth in the final NEC series of the season.
