CCSU Hall of Famer Rick Lantz Passes Away

1999 CCSU Hall of Fame Inductee played football for the Blue Devils and went on to a long coaching career

CCSU Hall of Fame football player Richard Lantz '64 passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Lantz was a member of the CCSU football team from 1960-63, serving as co-captain in 1962 and earning MVP honors in 1963.

Lantz went onto spend a lifetime coaching football at the professional and collegiate level. He spent time on the sidelines at Miami, Navy, Louisville, and Virginia. He coached professionally with the Patriots in 1981 and in NFL Europe from 2003-07, leading the Berlin Thunder to the 2004 World Bowl Championship.

A native of New Britain, Lantz is also a member of the New Britain Sports Hall of Fame.
