Celebration of Life for Hall of Famer Ed Batogowski Scheduled for July 26th
Former student-athlete and coach is a member of the CCSU Alumni Athletics Hall of Fame
The family of CCSU Hall of Famer Ed Batogowski '59 has announced that a Celebration of Life honoring Ed will be held on Friday, July 26th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Simsbury, CT.
A reception will immediately follow in the church hall.
Former Central Connecticut Hall of Fame student-athlete and coach Ed Batogowski '59 has passed away. Batogowski was a two-sport student-athlete for the Blue Devils, graduating from the University in 1959. He went on to coach men's golf at the University, leading Central to three Northeast Conference titles and three NCAA regional bids. The wins came in 2002, 2003 and 2005.
Batogowski received his master's degree in counseling and administration from the University of Hartford and went on to work as a teacher and counselor at Simsbury High School for 35 years. Batogowski earned his undergraduate degree at CCSU and was a varsity member of the golf and basketball teams. He was inducted into the CCSU Alumni Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997.

Edward J. Batogowski
1936-2019
Edward "Bato" Batogowski died on May 31, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of Ann Rouskie Batogowski, his high school sweetheart and they were married for 59 years. Ed was the son of of the late Katheryn and Edward Batogowski, Sr. and was predeceased by his brother Joseph Batogowski. Ed graduated from New Britain, CT High School and CCSU, where he was a varsity letter winner in basketball (4 years) and golf (2 years).
He was also elected to the CCSU Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball and golf and to the New Britain Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball.
He taught at Torrington and New Britain High Schools and was a Guidance Counselor at Simsbury High School. He went on to to coach golf at the University of Hartford and CCSU, where he won a Northeast Conference title and a New England Championship. His love of basketball led to a storied career as a college referee in the Big East and ultimately in the NBA.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Ann and his four children; Kris Ann Andonian, Laura Martins, David and Michael Batogowski, as well as nine grandchildren; Nicholas, Haley, Grace, Annika, Riley, Hannah, Ella, Emily and Gus. There will be no calling hours, at his request.
A memorial Mass and "celebration of his life" will be held at St., Mary's Church in Simsbury, CT at a date to be announced.
Contributions can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation in memory of Ed Batogowski or the CCSU Alumni Association Scholarship Fund in Ed's name and earmarked for Basketball.
