As the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Athlete Services, McCarthy serves as the department liaison to Admissions, Residence Life and the Center for International Education. She also coordinates community outreach for student-athletes and is responsible for initial eligibility for freshmen and transfer recruits.

Prior to her appointment in the Athletics Department in 2001, McCarthy had worked for CCSU in Recruitment and Admissions since the spring semester of 1995.

McCarthy founded and operates the CCSU Student-Athlete Wellness Room, a safe, peaceful space for student-athletes to relax and decompress from their busy, stressful lives.
